Why get Porcelain Veneers?

People seek porcelain veneers to correct a variety of dental conditions including:

  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Misalignment
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Deep stains and discoloration
  • Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Short or worn teeth
  • Crooked teeth

Veneers are permanent. Once you get them you don’t need to think about them anymore and can enjoy smiling with confidence. There is no extra care required to maintain veneers except for the normal brushing twice a day and flossing once per day. Veneers will never change color or stain – feel free to drink as much coffee and wine as you want!

While every case is different, most cases require at least 4-6 veneers to enhance and transform a smile. The more veneers placed, the more dramatic the smile transformation. We recommend a consultation to determine the number of veneers required to achieve a smile transformation.

The Simple 3 Step Process:

Our office provides all patients cosmetic dentistry consultations free of charge.
Dr. Weiss will meticulously examine all aspects of your dentition to ensure you are a candidate for porcelain veneers.
Patient with gum disease or active tooth decay may require treatments before veneers can be started and some patients will simply not qualify due to extensive periodontal disease or other unresolved pathology. We don’t place veneers on every patient who walks through the door!

Part of the consultation includes photography and jaw records.
Our team will photograph every part of your mouth to record your current dental state and take impressions to have a physical model of your teeth to examine.

The photographs we take are not just for record keeping though! Dr. Weiss is an expert at Photoshop and digital smile design software and will digitally alter your photographs to show you how exactly our veneers can transform your smile. We will not digitally alter anything that we think can’t be changed with veneers.

After the veneer treatment has been accepted, you return for the teeth preparation visit.

During this painless visit, the teeth are prepared by removing 0.5 mm of enamel to make room for the porcelain veneers. An impression is then taken of the teeth to send to our master ceramist.

Temporary veneers are fabricated to represent an approximation of how the final veneers will look – during this “trial smile” period you can evaluate your temporaries and we can make adjustments to how the final veneers will look.

While wearing the temporary veneers you will refrain from biting very hard foods as the temporary veneers are not designed to withstand full biting forces yet.

Our master ceramist will often join us during the preparation visit to evaluate tooth shade and get a sense for your natural tooth characteristics.

You return next for the insertion of the final porcelain veneers!

The temporaries are gently removed from the teeth.
The final veneers are shown to you and pending your acceptance (you already know what they look like from the trial smile!) are subsequently permanently bonded into place.

You can now immediately resume normal activity and head back to work or out to dinner!

We believe that you should never proceed with a veneer treatment before you can visualize the final result in multiple forms.

Before any treatment is started, we will show you a model of exactly how the veneers will look on your teeth (also known as a “wax-up”) as well as a digital representation of how your veneers will look when you smile!
